Guru Nanak Gurdwara Luton is a spiritual home for the Sikh community, dedicated to preserving and practising the teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Our gurdwara provides a space for prayer, learning, seva, and community life, supporting Sikhs of all ages in their spiritual journey.
The new gurdwara building was officially opened by His Majesty King Charles III on 9th December 2022, marking an important moment in the history of the Sikh community in Luton. While our primary purpose is to serve the Sikh sangat, our doors remain open to all who wish to learn about Sikhi and experience the values of respect, equality, and service
OUR PRINCIPLES: KIRAT KARONAAM JAPOVAND CHAKKO
Every day we gather for kirtan and paath, reciting Gurbani and reflecting on its teachings.
These sessions create a peaceful environment for simran, spiritual growth, and connection with Waheguru.
"ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਵਹ ਭਾਈ ॥
gurabaanee gaaveh bhaaee ||
Sing the Word of the Guru's Bani, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਓਹ ਸਫਲ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖਦਾਈ ॥
ouh safal sadhaa sukhadhaaee ||
That is always rewarding and peace-giving."
Langar is prepared and served by volunteers and is open to everyone, regardless of background.
It represents equality, humility, and the Sikh principle of sharing with all.
Through Gurmat classes and youth camps, we help the next generation learn Sikhi, Gurbani, and Punjabi, nurturing strong values and understanding.
" ਵਿਦਿਆ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਤਾਂ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ॥
Vidiā vīcārī tāṅ par-upkārī.
Contemplate knowledge, and you will become a benefactor to others. "
Seva is at the heart of our gurdwara. From preparing langar to maintaining the premises, volunteers work together in the spirit of selfless service.
"ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਤ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਹਕਾਮੀ ॥ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਹੋਤ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਸਵਾਮੀ ॥
Sevā karat hoi nihkāmī, tis kau hot parāpat savāmī.
One who serves selflessly attains the Lord."
